Namthang (নামথাং) is a tiny hilly town in the South Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is located around 56 kms. from capital city Gangtok and only 45 kms. away from entry point of Sikkim Rangpo. Namthang lays on Gangtok – Namchi road. The name Namthang has derived from Nam – means Sun and Thang – means place.
          Local villager’s and Govt. of Sikkim developed Namthang as a village tourism destination of South Sikkim. This is not about Namthang only, a cluster of villages surrounded by forests, lakes view-points and organic agricultural fields. The local tourism committee has taken initiative to promote village tourism to worldwide, as a part of this they have started “Nagi Pokhri Tourism & Organic Festival”, which is held every year at last of December.
