Zuluk | east

Zuluk is a high altitude small village on the historic Silk Route in East Sikkim, India. The village located on about 9,400ft above sea level, which attracts tourist throughout the year across India. Zuluk also spelt as Dzuluk, which once connected India with Tibet for silk trade. Now the village is an army barrack or cantonment, total population around 6-7 hundreds, mixed of Sikkimese, Nepali and Tibetan. Local villagers has started homestay for promoting Silk Route tourism, they provides their extra room & home cocked food for travelers, it is must visit and night halt destination for old silk route travel itinerary.   

          The first village of the Silk Route Circuit is the Zuluk where the tourists have the arrangements to stay in the home stays. Zulus gets flowers riot in August-September. It has been at the time when there is a flame of colorful flowers and time of January-April entire village covers under ice.

          There are 32 knock-off pins in the diversified thrilling way to jump from Zuluk to Lungthung. On the day-trip, it can be seen as Thumbi view point, Nathang valley, Tukla valley, old Babamandir, Kupup. How to Reach Zuluk

Nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) and nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), direct car not available in this route, you need to stay or a night halt at Silley Gaon, Ichhey Gaon, Rongli or at Reshikhola, and next day proceed to Zuluk.  

          Distance around 130 kms from Siliguri and 135 kms from NJP, it may take around 4-5 hrs, you need to obtain Inner Line Permit to visit Zuluk or entire Old Silk Route. You can obtain the permit at Rongli SDPO Office, which is open till 2pm on weekdays, 11am on weekends. Your driver or tour operator can help you to get the permit after providing photocopy of your National Identity and photographs (P.P size). Best Season to Visit Zuluk

Mid April – Mid June, September to 1st week of November, also Zuluk can be visited throughout the year excel winter.
