Aritar (অরিতার) is a tiny Himalayan village situated in East Sikkim district in Indian state of Sikkim, located at an altitude of 4600 ft. above sea level. Aritar is also known for its natural beauty and landscape and Aritar Lake (locally known as Lampokhari). It is one of the offbeat destinations in Sikkim for who wants to enjoy nature in its unspoiled form. The emerald forests, the sweeping hills with deep gorge and occasional waterfalls, the mountain slopes with terrace farming and overall the panoramic view of the Mt. New Jalpaiguri (NJP) is well connected with regular flights and trains with
Kolkata and rest of India. Direct car and taxis are available from airport and
railway station to Aritar, it will take around 4 hrs to reach and distance
around 110 kms from NJP.
Aritar can be visited throughout the year, in the month of March, April and May entire region become colorful with seasonal rhododendrons.
