Thimpu or Thimphu is capital city and one the main
attraction of Bhutan trip, this is the only capital in the world without
traffic signals. The city located at western part of Bhutan at 7600 ft. above
sea level. There is a strange uniqueness
in this city, no one plays horn on the road here. If a person crosses the zebra
crossing then the car stops automatically without any signal. Most people are
walking around the street in traditional Bhutanese dress (Gho for men &
Kira for women). The city itself is a Himalayan hill station but this place is
different from Gangtok or Darjeeling in terms of cleanness, rules, beauty &
hospitality.
It will
be almost evening to reach at Thimpu from Jaigaon/Phuntsholing, check-in at
hotel, be ready for next day sightseeing around Thimpu. Your first destination
is Tashichho Dzong (Thimpu Dzong) – is a huge fort with various administrative
departments. The Dzong situated at western bank or river Wang Chuu. (Note – it’s remain open for full day on
weekends & remain open after 5.00 P.M for tourist to enter inside).
Then visit National Folk Museum, old Gumpha (Changangkha Lhakhang), Motithang
Takin Preserve – a zoo, Thimpu Memorial Chorten – a sacred temple, Royal
Textile Academy, clock tower etc.
Buddha
Dordenma or Buddha Park is an ideal place to spend evening. The
52 meter tall Buddha statue has been demonstrated in a very high level. The
park located at very high altitude than Thimpu, from here entire city looks
charming at evening.

How to Reach
Thimpu
Direct car/taxis are available from Phuntsholing, distance
around 165 kms. it may take around 4-5 hrs. to reach. Direct buses are also
available from Phuntsholing bus terminals, which operated by Govt. transport
department. Bus fare around Nu.230 – Nu.500, share taxi also available at
Nu.500-Nu.600/head (Nu.1=Rs.1).
