Mechuka | valley

Mechuka is untouched tourist destination and a valley in Eastern Himalaya under West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh. Mechuka valley located around 6,000 ft. above sea level near Indo-China border. The name Mechuka derived from ‘Menchuka’, which means (Men-chu-kha) means medicinal water of snow where men is medicine, Chu is water/river.

          A 400 year old Buddhist Monastery is most popular tourist attraction of Mechuka, located in the western are of Mechukha at a hilltop. Entire district and nearby area is home of local Tagin, Adi and Memba tribes. Adventure lovers can go for rafting and water zorbing into Yargyapchu River.

          If you have one extra day then you can go for hiking at Mechuka La. From top of the Mechuka La you can get full 3600 view of entire town and mesmerizing snoe-caped mountain peaks.

How to Reach Mechuka

Mechuka located in very important location near Indo-China border (around 30 km). Capital city Itanagar located around 500 kms away, nearest large town and major tourist destination is Aalo (along), located 175 km away. Direct road connectivity started recently from Along (Aalo). From Guwahati, you need to reach Aalo (Along) via silapathar, then from Aalo sumo services and shared jeeps are available for Menchukha. Nearest airport is Lilabari Airport, Assam (IXI), located around 425 km away. 

Best Season to Visit Mechuka

Mechuka can be visited throughout the year except monsoon (July to September?) due to heavy rain road condition became hussle. There are two best season to visit Arunachal Pradesh as well as Mechuka, March to June and again October to December.
