The Ramsai forest and Ramsai village is besides on eastern side of Gorumara National Park. The unmatchable variation of Gorumara forest is visible from here. Movements of wild animals are more, than other parts of Gorumara forest, so more chances are more to get those (Wild animals) very near. Ramsai forest has another special feature; which is the Medla watch tower remains open throughout the year. The entire Gorumara Park remains closed including Jungle Safari, Jeep Safari, and Elephant Safari also entry in forest, in monsoon season from June 15th to September 15th, except the eastern part or Ramsai forest. Tickets can be purchased from here (Ramsai) for Medla watch tower, this is an unique experience for travelers. The Buffalo cart is used to bring tourist to the watch tower through lush green forest. The butterfly park and breeding center is another best attraction to see, just behind of ticket counter. Kalipur Eco village camp just 500 meter away from watch tower, the best place to see animals.

Ramsai is a free roaming area for Rhinos, Elephants, Gaurs along with other wild animals on the both side of Jaldhaka river through dense forest. Few small tribal villages were inside the dense forest, now at a day’s those villages moved away from densed forest to boundary edges of forest. The villagers are self-depended through Eco-Tourism, they are all directly or indirectly involved with local tourism.

How to Reach Ramsai

Nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) and nearest railway station is New Maynaguri (NMX), distance is only 20 K.M from New Maynaguri railway station. Regular train service is available from Kolkata, Kamrup Express and Teesta Torsa Express connects directly with Kolkata. Ramsai also can be reached from Lataguri through Kalamati, regular buses are running Siliguri, Malbazar and Jalpaiguri. Distance from Siliguri town is only 99 kms. and distance from Jalpaiguri is only 48 kms.

Ramsai can be visited throughout the year, the entire Dooars region remain closed in monsoon except this Ramsai forest. The best time to visit Ramsai is autumn and post monsoon.
